What has BECA Accomplished?

484 Students have received BECA Scholarships totaling $l,600,000 since its inception in l984.  There is more to BECA’s success than numbers. Each number represents a student and each student has a story.

“After receiving my degree from USD and pursuing my career in Accounting, I was given the opportunity to serve on BECA’s Board.
It is an honor and privilege to be able to give back to the Foundation after receiving their support through my university years.”

Maribel Gonzalez
BECA Alumna 1995
Treasurer
“Due to BECA's dedication to continuing the 'Possible Dream' for low income Latino students, I was able to attend UC Santa Cruz. With my Psychology degree I decided to go further and attend USD where I received an M.A. in Counseling. As a Board member for BECA, it is my duty to continue being a positive role model for our youth.”

Andrés Martín
BECA Alumnus 1998
President
“BECA is an organization with a profound heart, helping and encouraging
Latino students in following their dreams and striving for excellence. I have been privileged with being part of this special community that brings out the best from its students. I was able to attend Colorado State University and received my music degree and attend the Conservatory in Manhattan. I can say with enormous confidence that BECA’s support has aided me on my path as a Musician with a great sense of pride and ambition.”

Steven Aguilo-Arbues
BECA Alumnus 2002

“The BECA Foundation has been a great supporter of my education. After attending the University of San Diego, I was accepted to Medical school in Wisconsin, where I earned my M.D. I am grateful to BECA for 8 years of financial assistance. Currently I am finishing my residency training at UCSD in radiology and planning to enter a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Fellowship in 2005.”
